Amid a time of uncertainty and a cost-of-living crisis, Samaritans charity is highlighting the power of talking as part of its Talk to Us awareness campaign which runs throughout July. Talking is often the best way to start feeling better - not only it provides connection, comfort, and understanding but also prevents feelings of loneliness and isolation.
24th July is Samaritans Awareness Day, because they’re here 24/7 for anyone who is struggling to cope. Every 10 seconds, Samaritans responds to a call for help. In 2021 Samaritans volunteers spent over one million hours responding to calls for help. No matter what you are going through, you can get in touch with them - they will listen to you and explore how you’re feeling without judgement.
You can find out more about these campaigns in our booklet below. And if you’d like to get involved, you can help raise awareness this month by sharing Samaritans’ messaging on your own social media pages using #TalkToUs and #SamaritansAwarenessDay.
From the employer's perspective, it is also important to recognise the symptoms of poor mental health amongst the staff and provide them with appropriate help. We can help you adopt a range of measures in order to support your employees experiencing mental health issues: Management Referral Service, Counselling, Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), Mental Health Webinars & Workshops, as well as Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Courses.
